Synopsis: Welcome, foolish mortals, to Disney Press’ spookiest chapter book series yet: Tales from the Haunted Mansion! Based on the attractions from the Disney Parks, each new book tells the story of one of the Haunted Mansion’s 999 ghosts. With eerie illustrations throughout, the books are designed to look like they came straight from the library in the Haunted Mansion. Tales from the Haunted Mansion is a fun, spooky ride, just like the attraction from the Disney Parks. And if readers are familiar with the ride, they’ll see elements of it throughout the entire story, from items straight of the Mansion (are those pictures stretching?) to lyrics from the narration that is heard in each Doom Buggy. In this bone-chilling book, you will hear the terrifying tales of the Fearsome Foursome–four kids who look to out-scare each other. But just wait until they hear my spooky stories. Who am I? I am Amicus Arcane, your librarian and host. Your Ghost Host. So read on… if you dare!

Review: I enjoyed this is wasn’t scary as I hoped though, but it was a very fun easy read. It had the same vibes that Lemony Snicket provides, with the narration throughout the story of what’s going on.

The story followed the fearsome foursome as they enter the haunted mansion, invited in to tell spooky tales to each other only to find a librarian ghost telling their tales to them instead.

The tales were very interesting and some had some unexpected plot twists which I did enjoy actually. They were very tame stories, with very tame horrors and didn’t offer anything really scary or gory as you’d suspect they would/might; nonetheless though I found myself hooked into the stories really easily and was eager to know what the fate of each kid was going to be.

There were hints at humour and was a really quick and easy read, was fun to get sunk into this unique world of stories. If you like a not so scary but a little scary type of easy to read light horror then you’d really enjoy this book.
