Review

The family Madrigal live in a magical house each one having a gift that provides them and their community with a safe place to live. But Mirabel didn’t get one, she feels outcast and sets to find out why she is seeing cracks in the walls and what it means.

Where do I start with this movie? It’s beautiful, it creative, it’s magical, it’s diverse, it’s refreshing, it’s got incredible songs and it makes you weep and laugh.

I really loved the music the songs were all so beautifully created and suited the characters so perfectly, they were catchy and fun, but also some were kinda sad and emotional. I loved that the songs were all different, i do have a favourite song, I think most people do but my favourite is different to most people I think.

The characters were amazing, I loved that each one looked different, skin tone, body shape, hair tone, and also each had different personalities. It’s wonderful to actually see that in an animated movie to represent such an array of people in such a natural way, it was so nice to actually see that in a movie.

The storyline was so fun, so intriguing as from the outside they seem like a perfect family, but the one misfit daughter sees all the cracks and realities of this family. It all delves in so much deeper and we learn the sad story behind the magic house. We learn of the story behind Bruno (“We don’t talk about Bruno”) and find out the truth of Mirabel’s gift.

I just adore this movie it’s beautiful, so bright to watch, songs that you want to keep listening too and characters that you enjoy watching and connect too. I’m sure most people have already watched this movie, but if you haven’t I suggest you do, its so different to any other Disney movie out there.
