Review:

Such an incredibly fun show and I had no idea I would enjoy this at all. I hadn’t seen any version if this before, I didn’t think I’d heard any of the songs from it either before watching it. It looked interesting so I gave it a watch and found I was pleasantly surprised with what I saw.

The main thing I loved about it was lol the dance numbers, so much hard work clearly went into creating these dances and the choreography looked so hard to do, but the cast carried it perfectly and the numbers were mesmerising. Such beautiful dance number and seriously long tap dancing numbers too, so insane that they are all so talented to do that.

The set design was incredibly cleaver, I loved that it really looked and felt like you were on the cruise and I loved the in and out rooms. It was so creative and really worked perfectly fir the aesthetic of the show. The costumes were all so beautiful also.

The show it’s self was not what I expected but I loved it, it was such an oddball show and when they say anything goes they mean it haha, there were so many really hilarious scenes and the characters worked incredibly well together. I loved the show way more than I imagined that I would, it was such a fun escape.

I really loved the songs they were so fun, and I found I had actually heard if a few of them before going into the show, I just didn’t realise it. The cast all had really great voices and were so talented. The star of the show to me was Carly Mercedes Dyer who played Erma oh my goodness did this woman make me howl she was seriously outstanding, her comedic timing, her voice and her character were the best.

If you haven’t watched this show, I do highly recommend that you do, it’s so much fun, the talent is beyond what you’d expect and it’s so oddball you’ll be laughing loads. I’m so glad I watched this musical it was way better than I could ever have imagined and I’m now in love with this hilarious and fun show.

Cast:

Sutton Foster – Reno Sweeney

Samuel Edwards – Billy Crocker

Robert Lindsay – Moonface Martin

Gary Wilmot – Elisha Whitney

Nicole-Lily Baisden – Hope Harcourt

Felicity Kendal – Mrs. Evangeline Harcourt

Carly Mercedes Dyer – Erma

Haydn Oakley – Lord Evelyn Oakleigh

Obviously there are more incredible actors in the cast, with the ensemble & swings but it would take a while to list them all but they are an important part of the cast.

Creative Team

Ross MacGibbon & Kathleen Marshall – Directors

Marc Allenby, Alice De Rosa & Austin Shaw – Producers

Joshua Andrews & Stuart Gabraith – Executive Producers

Obviously a huge amount of staff go into creating such a show as this but listing them all would take a long time, everyone’s hard work is noticed though.
