Review:

A family move to a small Halloween obsessed town, the dad hates every aspect of Halloween and seems it stupid. While exploring the new huge old house Sydney finds an old turnip and unleashes a demonic ghost, who wants one thing to live forever and destroy all in the town.

This was more of a comedic Halloween movie, which I didn’t think it would be based on the trailer. It wasn’t scary or anything at all, but funny for what unfolds and how the decorations go crazy. Though this was set at Halloween everything that unfolds almost seemed like it was being portrayed as a joke. Nothing really seemed to be taken seriously at all, every aspect was used as a joke.

This movie itself wasn’t too bad, could have been better but it was okay. I liked the thread of the demon is unlocked and now spreading itself everywhere to unleash its evil, creating an army of Halloween decorations. That side of the story was really quite interesting and entertaining.

The family dynamic felt really off and didn’t seem to connect as though they were even a family, it to me came off as a very standoffish connection between the three of them. It wasn’t very believable that they were a family. That thread also came through with the friends who again didn’t seem to have much of a connection between them.

Though this movie was good and interesting, and I did like bit of it; it really wasn’t perfect in anyway. I would have liked more scary stuff and less comedic stuff as none of the comedy was even that funny.

It’s a good easy family Halloween watch though and I’m sure it would probably be enjoyed a lot more by others. Like I said it was good and I’m glad to have watched it, it had some really good scenes and fun action stuff whilst on their small town ghost hunting adventure. It just wasn’t the best movie of its kind.
