Title: The Witches

Runtime: 1 Hour 46 Minutes
Summery: Reimagining Roald Dahl’s beloved story for a modern audience, Robert Zemeckis’s visually innovative film tells the darkly humorous and heartwarming tale of a young orphaned boy who, in late 1967, goes to live with his loving Grandma in the rural Alabama town of Demopolis. As the boy and his grandmother encounter some deceptively glamorous but thoroughly diabolical witches, she wisely whisks him away to a seaside resort. Regrettably, they arrive at precisely the same time that the world’s Grand High Witch has gathered her fellow cronies from around the globe-undercover-to carry out her nefarious plans. Zemeckis is joined by a world-class team of filmmakers, including Alfonso Cuarón, Guillermo del Toro and Kenya Barris. The cast includes powerhouse performances from Anne Hathaway, Octavia Spencer, Stanley Tucci, Kristin Chenoweth and Chris Rock, with newcomer Jahzir Kadeen Bruno as the brave young hero.

Review
A new remake on the Roald Dahl classic story, set in Alabama with a Grandma and her grandson who after spotting a witch in their town go to a grand hotel and run into a group of evil witches having a convention there.
This was utterly terrifying honestly I wasn’t prepared for how scary this version was going to be, everything about the way the witches looked and moved was terrifying and they were so vicious and wow it was scarier than expected.
I loved and adored the relationship the boy had with his grandma it was super precious and her telling him the stories of what happened to her friend and how sweet she was with them all even when they were turned to mice. They were the best part of the movie for sure.
I really didn’t like the fake accent of our lead witch it was hard to understand her and wasn’t good at all made it very off putting. I’m not really sure the point of her accent at all it seemed so pointless, didn’t add anything to the story at all.
The movie overall isn’t one I would watch again and would only suggest an older child watch it as it was really pretty scary. It was an interesting remake but it had many faults which stops it from being a really good movie. It wasn’t at all what I was expecting and it was honestly a bit of a let down from what I wanted it to be.
