Review:
That was the tackiest thing I’ve ever seen what even was it seriously?
So from the start it was so tacky, it wasn’t good, then they started singing and it continued to be bad, the lead actress could not sing at all and pretty much everyone else in the movie couldn’t sing either. It was a disaster as a musical that’s for sure. The songs were literally atrocious and not good at all and so many cover songs too, geez.
I did like the step sisters they were actually sweet which was a nice change of pace in a Cinderella movie, I also found some of the storyline really interesting, like that she had her own mind and wouldn’t let anyone get in the way even though she couldn’t do a thing to change it. I liked that she created her own dresses and that the godmother used her design that was really cute. There were parts that she and the prince were cute together but most were really not cute and were just tacky. I liked his sister as she was destined to be the queen as she had a brain and a passion for it all, she knew how to make the land a better place for all.
This movie as a whole was really not that good though, the out of sync lip-singing was off putting distracting and done so so badly, nothing was in line at all and none of them could lip sing. Was the lip singing even necessary either? It wasn’t they could all have sang whilst filming and just swap out the audio for the recorded versions, geez. But it bothered me so much as it was awful. The song choices were awful too and like I said pretty much no one had a good singing voice.
The only good thing was the storyline, the changes within it and a whole different tale of Cinderella, it was great seeing it be told in a different way. Instead of just poor girl goes to ball falls in love with prince and he whisks her off her feet, it’s not like that and it’s luckily not so simple and basic. That was what made parts of the movie good.
Though as a whole this movie is suckish and tacky and not made very well for the storyline alone I’m happy that I watched it. For the utter tackiness and god awful singing I’m not so happy I had to endure it, but it was different and a fresh telling of a classic story.
